You have never visited Egypt if you didn’t see the great Pyramid of Giza. Great pyramid of Giza was built in 2,650 B.C. if we calculate the age, it means it is about more than 4,000 years ago. Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest building among the 7th wonder of world civilization.
Pyramid is actually a building for an ancient Egyptian king’s tomb and his wife. The king and Queen bodies will “stay” inside the pyramid along with their treasures like gold, paintings and their favorite stuff.
In Egypt, there are about 168 pyramids; however, the most popular Pyramid and as an iconic building is a pyramid that located in Giza or it is called the Great Pyramid. The Great Pyramid is located at the same area with Sphinx statue.
The Great Pyramid of Giza is the biggest pyramid among other pyramids that found in Egypt but it is not the oldest one. The oldest pyramid is located in the northwest of Memphis Sea, the former capital city of Egypt. The oldest pyramid is called Sakkara.
The Great Pyramid of Giza is a tomb of Khufu. We can reached the pyramid by car and it will take you about 20 minutes trip. To enter the Great Pyramid area, visitors must pay about 60 Pound. If you want to enter the pyramid itself, you will be charged for additional 100 LE for international tourist and 2 pounds for locals.
However, the money we have paid is nothing once you enter the pyramid. There are 2 strong building with pyramid-shaped which are called The Great Pyramid and Khafre Pyramid. Near the pyramids there is another pyramid but the height is half of them. It is called Menkaure Pyramid.
You will meet some hawkers or camel riders that will offer you many things to buy as souvenirs. However, be aware, they are so tricky and don’t be fooled.
At last, don’t forget to bring umbrella, hat, sunglass and drinking water as the area will be very hot during the day.
