Rhodes is visited by many tourists that mainly come from Europe to enjoy the sun and clear weather that happens all the time through the year. Rhodes city is divided into 2 areas, Old city and New city based on time zone.
Palace of the Grand Master
Start your city tour to visit Palace of the Grand Master. It is a palace that built in the 14th century by Knights of Rhodes. You will pass the street for about 200 meter to reach the palace. The street is called Odos Ippoton or Street of Knights. Along your way to the palace, there are rows of houses that belong to the Knights of Greece on both sides. The houses were built to protect the palace from any possibility attack by enemies. However, some of the houses are functioned as museum and embassy office.
Take a boat in Mandraki port in Rhodes to go to Symi Island. It is about 40 kilometers from the port. Once you reached the island, beautiful scenes will welcome you as well as some buildings with Mediterranean style that stand in row on the hill. Houses’ shape in Symi Island is square with white color and looks like a toy.
Rhodes still has another beautiful island to visit which is Lindos. It is about 50 kilometers from Rhodes city. To reach the island, you have to ride a bus, and then walk along the textured road. Enjoy the magnificent view along your way before reaching the beach.
Before seeing the beach, you will see the Acropolis Lindos. It is a building that built in the middle of the century; however it remains only the fragments of the building. From this spot, you can see the heart-shaped bay, Saint Paul and Lindos city.
Yialos Port is another vista. The port has some restaurants, cafés and some souvenir shops. Uniquely, the shops are selling foam for bathing. The foam is the most popular souvenir from Rhodes. The foam is made from marine plants that can make your skin smoother than before.
