1. Masjid Al-Haram, Mekkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
No doubt for it that Masjid Al Haram is the greatest place ever built. The kabbah the holy place for Muslims actually located in here, so it have a special value among all Muslims.
Besides that, Masjid Al Haram is the biggest mosque in the world that built on area of 88 hectares and can accommodate more than 4 million pilgrims at once. It has 4 floors and each floor has 492 pillars that covered by marble.
2. Masjid Al-Nabawi, Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Masjid Al-Nabawi is the second greatest mosque in the world after Masjid Al Haram. It is located in Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was built by Prophet Muhammad, and it’s the place where prophet Muhammad prey most of his prayers.Masjid Al-Nabawi has 27 movable domes that always crowded by the pilgrims around the world. Time by time, the government keeps expand the area to accommodate the pilgrims.
3. Hassan II Mosque, Casablanca, Morocco
It is located in Casablanca and considered as in some of the biggest masjid in the world. It can occupy 25,000 persons. The masjid was built in 1980 and it has a minaret with the height of 210 m.
It was designed by French designer, Michel Pinseau. The floor is glass made above the sea. The mosque was requested by King Hassan II.
4. Faisal Mosque, Islamabad, Pakistan
Faisal Mosque was designed by Turkish designer, Vedat Dalokay. It is totally a contemporary design by omitting the dome. The roof is pointed-shape to replace the traditional dome. It is inspired by the tent-shape of Bedouin. The minaret design is typical Turkish style which is like a pencil.
It can occupy up to 10,000 person in the main hall and more than 20,000 in the outside area.
5. Sultan Ahmet Camii Mosque, Istanbul, Turkey
It was built by Sultan Ahmet I in the beginning of 1600s. The masjid is surrounded by 6 minarets and magnificent dome with the diameter 23m and 43m tall. In addition, the mosque has 260 light reflective windows.
It is also called Blue Mosque as the interior is dominated by blue color and becomes the icon of Istanbul.
6. Sheikh Zayed Mosque, Abu Dhabi, United Emirat Arab
Sheikh Zayed or also known as Grand Mosque have 4 minarets with the same height 115 meters, that beautifully stand on each corner. It has 82 domes that cover all the building area.
The floor is made from white Alabaster Marble with very beautiful motif. While the floor inside the hall covered with luxury Iranian rug.
The pillars that support the dome are covered by colorful marble. For the lighting, Grand Mosque installed shiny Swarovski crystal from Germany that hangs on the ceiling.
7.Crystal Mosque, Kuala Trengganu, Malaysia
It is dominated by glass materials, crystals and steel. The architecture of the masjid is very unique that attracts many visitors, who visit Kuala Trengganu. It is located beside the beach and was inaugurated in 2008. The Crystal mosque look more stunning and beautiful during the full moon.
8. Sultan Qaboos Masjid, Muscat, Oman
It is the idea of Oman’s King, Sultan Qaboos to build the national mosque of Oman that officially opened in 2001.
The interior of the mosque is decorated by mosaics structure on the wall and the dome. On the floor uses rug with floral motif that dominated by blue color. It has the biggest rug in the world at the time of inauguration.
9. Shah Jahan Mosque, Thatta, Pakistan
King Shah Jahan built the masjid with red bricks constructed in 1647. The interesting part is that, it has 100 domes and becomes the most domes ever in the world. The dome design can make the voice of the “imam” echoes and can be heard to all areas.
10. Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque, Brunei
Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque is an Islamic Kingdom Masjid that located in the capital city of Brunei, Bandar Seri Begawan. It is classified as one of the most spectacular masjid in Asia Pacific and always attracts many tourists. It is the landmark of Brunei.
